Both are popular in Bangkok and both are relaxing, but they feel very different. Here is how to choose.
Traditional Thai massage
Thai massage combines rhythmic pressure along the body’s energy lines with assisted stretching. You stay clothed in loose, comfortable clothing and no oil is used.
Choose it if you:
- feel stiff after a long flight or a day of sitting
- enjoy firm pressure and stretching
- want to feel energised rather than sleepy afterwards
Aromatherapy oil massage
Oil massage uses long, flowing strokes with warm aromatic oil. The pressure is usually lighter and more continuous.
Choose it if you:
- want to unwind before sleep
- prefer gentle, even pressure
- have general muscle tension rather than one specific sore spot
Still not sure?
Many guests start with an oil massage on their first night to rest, and book a Thai massage later in their stay once the jet lag has passed. You can also tell us how you feel when you book, and we will suggest a treatment.
